CellPro is a transportable photometer with an internal rechargeable battery, measures sample absorbance in a cuvette, and automatically converts the results into concentration values using preloaded calibration curves. These curves are species-specific, which is why each reference corresponds to a particular species.
CellPro is a compact and portable: 500g for a dimension of 120x145x65 mm. It is equipped with a 600 nm wavelength optical system, allowing the estimation of sperm concentration.
The instrument is powered by the internal rechargeable battery or by the mains supply through the provided power adapter. The battery has an autonomy of approximately 1 month with normal use and if it is fully charged.
CellPro measures the absorbance of the samples and converts it into concentration information based on equations stored in the system.
The configured equation has been determined on the basis of a minimum of 50 ejaculates of the species for which this CellPro is intended. The ejaculates are taken from given animals in rearing and yield conditions typical of a semen production centre.
The equation of polynomial type has been defined according to absorbance values read in relation to semen samples with the CellPro and concentration measurements made with a reference method.
